El Efecto Mariposa is a community conservation project dedicated to protecting the environment through engaging communities in the study of local butterflies.
Butterflies are tiny windows through which you can witness big changes in the environment. And – just like the flutter of a butterfly’s wings, they can inspire dramatic changes that ripple from your local vacant lot to the world beyond.

We can help you map local butterfly habitats, identify species and host plants, and come to a deeper appreciation of these amazing creatures through caring for them in your own home and garden.
Our projects include:

- A nursery to cultivate local butterfly plants for avid gardeners and backyard conservationists.
- Online and in-person trainings to foster awareness and boost scientific knowledge.
- Conservation-focused kits to raise and care for butterflies at home.
